Details

This is the air purifier which uses heated air to destroy airborne mold, bacteria, viruses, dust mites, and pollens. Unlike commonly available ionic units, it does not produce harmfully elevated ozone levels; it also reduces existing indoor ozone, which the America Lung Association indicates can be a serious respiratory irritant and asthma trigger. With no filters to replace or clean, the compact cleaner pulls air into the internal chamber which is heated to 392F to silently destroy airborne mold, bacteria, viruses, pet dander, pollen and common household dust mites in a room up to 450 sq. ft. and 550 sq. ft.. Despite its high internal heat level, the purifier will not change the room temperature. For the highest level of air purification, it is recommended for use 24-hours a day, every day, yet it draws less power than a 60-watt light bulb. A soothing adjustable night light is built in. 10 1/2" H x 8 1/2" Diam. (2 1/2 lbs.)

This laboratory-conducted test shows how Airfree acts to prevent mould.

How does it work?

Airfree’s exclusive technology works by eliminating microorganisms and allergens, destroying them in a fraction of a second. Depending on the model, between 14,000 and 20,000 litres of air pass through the Airfree device every hour, treating all the air in the room in a very short space of time.

The process works in much the same way as sterilising water by boiling it; when water is boiled, the microorganisms it contains are eliminated. In similar fashion, Airfree continually draws in air from the room, heating it to over 200 ºC and instantly sterilising it. The purified air is then cooled inside the device before being returned to the room.

The entire process is completely silent and requires no maintenance, not even the occasional replacement of parts. All you have to do is switch the device on and leave it to get on with the job.

FAQs

1. How does Airfree work?
Airfree destroys microorganisms at its heated capillaries. Contaminated air is dragged into Airfree’s ceramic core by air convection and microorganisms are destroyed at high temperatures regardless of how resistant and dangerous they might be.

2. Are there any side effects?
No. Airfree’s new technology uses heat to purify the air. No side effects, no emissions, NO IONS, nor new particles are generated. Airfree® should be used in all homes and offices, quietly, constantly, and efficiently purifying the air.

3. My Airfree does not stop blinking. What does that mean?(*)
Cause 1: Airfree incorporates an automatic energy-saving feature by automatically shutting off the ceramic core when it has reached a temperature range to facilitate air convection (air in the room is drawn into the machine to destroy impurities, contaminants and odours). The ceramic core shuts down for a few minutes, the indicator light turns off, and the top lights emitting diode (L.E.D.) blinks. Airfree continues to sterilize the air during this time. This indicates the conservation of electric power consumption and the preservation of the ceramic core.

Cause 2: Another contributory factor to Airfree’s blinking occurrence is the ambient air (air in the environment). When the ambient air reaches 35 ºC, Airfree® auto-regulates itself with the ceramic core “shut off” for a few minutes but still continues with its sterilizing activity (the blinking of the top lights and the fade away of the side LED on models P40/P60/ P80/ P125/ P150 and just the fade away of the side LED on model E40/ E60/ E80/ E125, signals this occurrence). In this process energy is conserved and Airfree’s safety mechanism is enhanced.

Cause 3: Airfree incorporates state of the art electronics detecting any improper placement or device malfunctioning. If the top lights does not stop blinking, please ensure that your Airfree® unit is in the upright position. If the top and bottom air inlets are free of blockage, the blinking may be due to a faulty electrical outlet. Please plug it in into a proper outlet. If in the next 10 minutes the top lights continues blin-king and your Airfree® unit is correctly installed, this indicates that the device may be malfunctioning. Please promptly contact your dealer in such case.

(*) The Airfree E40/E60/E80/E125 does not incorporate the Anti-stress lights.

4. Is there any risk when the top light of Airfree is blinking?(*)
No. When Airfree electronics detect any irregularity it automatically shuts off the TSS™ ceramic core.

(*) The Airfree E40/E60/E80/E125 does not incorporate the Anti-stress lights.

5. What is Airfree’s air cleaning capacity?
Airfree P1000 was designed for rooms up to 450 sq. ft. (42m²), Airfree P2000 Platinum was designed for rooms up to 550 sq. ft. (51m²). Airfree P3000 Onix was designed for rooms up to 650 sq. ft. (61m²).

6. Can I install Airfree in my walking closet ?
Yes, as long as it has at least 330cu.ft. (10m³)*. Airfree® should not be placed under shelves or its efficiency will be reduced.
* as reference 330cu.ft. (10m³) is approximately 7’x7’.

7. Can I use Airfree in air conditioned rooms?
Yes.

8. How do I know if Airfree is no longer working?
Check the top lid, if warm Airfree is working.

9. Can I place Airfree at the corridor to reach the whole house?
No. Airfree will just reduce air pollution in the corridor’s area.

10. Can I place Airfree in a closed room?
Yes. Please remember such a room must have at least 330cu.ft. (10m³)*.
* as a reference 330cu.ft. is approximately 7’x7’.

11. Does Airfree eliminate bacteria and viruses?
Yes. Unlike the air filters in the market Airfree® is more efficient with the smallest microorganisms as they are easily carried by Airfree’s airflow into its heated ceramic core.

12. Can I change Airfree from one room to another?
Airfree must always be plugged in the same room 24 hours a day. Airfree’s patented technology works gradually and cannot have its cycle interrupted. Moving it from one room to another will interrupt the cycle and will recontaminate the room. See question 13 bellow.

13. Should I turn off Airfree when I leave house?
No. Airfree must always be on.

14. What happens if Airfree is disconnected or there was a black out?
Airfree will take approximately the same time to recover the previous reduced contamination level.

15. Does CADR measure the effectiveness of the Airfree?
Not at all. CADR is not designed to test the Airfree technology.
The AHAM seal (usually found on the back of an air cleaner’s box) lists three Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) numbers: one for tobacco smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. The CADR indicates volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner. The higher the tobacco smoke, pollen and dust numbers, the faster the unit filters the air. The main reason why CADR is not designed for Airfree is because Aifree does not filter but destroys microorganisms instead, CADR only applies to volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner as stated above. CADR does not measure microorganism reduction like mould and bacteria only detectable by a microbiology lab. Airfree destroys (not trap or attract to other surface) any microorganism regardless of how small they might be. 99,99% of all organic particles are fully destroyed when passing through the Airfree U.S. patented ceramic core.

16. How does Airfree destroy dust mites?
Mould reduction in the environment causes reduction in the mould dependant dust mite population. Airfree also destroys the harmful toxins and fungus freed by dust mite feces that trigger respiratory allergies.

17. How does Airfree eliminate fungi?
As mentioned before, Airfree eliminates airborne microorganisms included fungi and spores. By eliminating spores new colonies are unlikely to develop, representing less future airborne spores.

18. How does Airfree® destroy viruses?
Those microscopic microorganisms are easily eliminated inside Airfree’s ceramic core capillaries. The temperature inside of Aifree’s capillaries is much higher than required to incinerate them. Airfree® is your greatest ally in respiratory disease prevention.

19. Does Airfree reduce tobacco smell?
Yes, Airfree reduces any kind of organic smell in the ambience including tobacco.

20. Does Airfree release any gas or chemical product?
No. Airfree’s sterilisation process is natural. Please check our website for conclusive tests regarding particles and ozone.

21. Does Airfree heat up a room?
No. Airfree does not noticeable increase room temperature. To have an idea 2 Airfrees plugged in the same room will contribute as much heat as the presence of one adult in that same room.

22. Does Airfree provoke any change in room’s the relative humidity?
No.

23. Does Airfree need filter replacement?
No.

24. Does Airfree consume a lot of energy?
No. Airfree’s consumption is just 45 Watts for P1000, 48 Watts for P2000 and 52 Watts for P3000 Onix.

25. Does Airfree anti-stress light interfere with Airfree sterilising function?(*)
No. The anti-stress light has an esthetic effect may be relaxing or simply used as a night light in children or newborn bedrooms. According to chromo therapy the blue light has calming and relaxing effect.
(*) The Airfree E range does not incorporate the Anti-stress lights.

26. Where do the microorganisms go after they are destroyed?
As all living organisms, microorganisms and their products are basically composed by carbon, oxigen and nitrogen. Since Airfree reachs nearly 414F, all the components are supposed to suffer a combustion process, which liberates carbone dioxide (the same product released by our respiration) and water. Some carbon (or ashes) may remain in the process. If there is some residual allergen left, we might consider that they suffer denaturation, a process involving lost of conformation and function. It should be noted that we are talking about reactions that occur in a microscopic level, so all these processes or by-products won’t be perceived. In this case, there is no need to worry about maintenance.

27. How does Airfree clean the air without a fan?
Airfree's patented Technology TSS™ (Thermodynamic Sterilizing System) generates airflow quietly through air convection and sterilizes air at high temperatures. The airflow generated by Airfree happens by air convection and equals 14 m³/hr according to the SP Swedish National Laboratory test shown on our website. Cooler and contaminated air is then continuously drawn into Airfree®. There is no need for a noisy fan. Airfree®'s exclusive TSS™ technology has been proven to be effective by some of the world's most prestigious independent laboratories in six different countries in real working conditions. You can find the test results on our website www.airfree.com in the section TESTS.

28. Does Airfree reduce the necessity of dusting surfaces?
A The operation of an Airfree unit does not eliminate the usual dusting frequencies. Airfree is not an air filter that “traps” dust. It incinerates dust particles turning them into harmless components.

29. Can a particle counter measure the Airfree efficiency?
Several air purifiers are using particle counters in order to measure their filters’ efficiency.

Airfree does not filter nor trap particles. The patented Airfree TSS technology is not a filter. Therefore, the particle counter is not designed to measure the efficiency of Airfree’s technology.

Why is that?

Firstly, particle counters are used to count the quantity of particles at the outlet of an air purifier. As mentioned before, Airfree is not a filter and does not trap particles; therefore, the quantity of particles entering and exiting the unit will be pretty much the same. However - and here goes the explanation as to why the Airfree technology is efficient and the particle counter does not recognize it:

Secondly, the particle counter will not tell you if the particles are alive or not - harmful or not.

What are particles?

Particles are any air contaminants floating in your room, such as: dust mite feces and skeletons, hair, dead skin, pollens, bacteria (dead or alive), viruses (dead or alive), fabrics remains, mold spores (dead or alive), pet dander, car emissions and many others.

The Airfree TSS technology destroys microorganisms by combustion (application of high temperatures of around 400ºF) and hereby turns micro-organic contaminants into denatured particles. When organic particles are combusted, their proteins are denatured, i.e. the particles lose their original structure and are made harmless. These harmless particles are released back into the environment after the combustion process and are therefore still detected by the particle counter. However, as mentioned before, the counter will not tell if the particles are harmful or not, dead or alive.

How do we know if invisible particles floating in the room are harmless/destroyed?

Rather than presenting customers with CADR or CFM ratings, we at Airfree go straight to the point and prove to our customers what they really expect from an air purifier – real benefits – Airfree aims at goals and not at the means. The goal is to see a mold and bacteria reduction in the room and that is what our patented Airfree TSS technology proves (http://www.airfree.com/testes/testeshome_usa.htm).

Considering the before said, the Airfree TSS technology offers several advantages such as:

* Maintenance free operation
* Environmental protection – no replacement
* No need to touch or change contaminated parts

The claims Airfree makes on mold and bacteria reduction are backed by independent tests performed in real working environments.

We at Airfree go straight to the point and inform our customers of what the proven mold and bacteria reduction of our patented TSS (Thermodynamic Sterilization System) technology is – 85 – 95% (please see our tests at …). Airfree destroys all airborne microorganisms, no matter what size.

Our final question to the customer: Do you prefer to purchase an air purifier which claims a high CADR or CFM rating or one that offers the real benefits: mold, bacteria and ozone reduction in real working conditions? We at Airfree show real facts. The decision is up to you. We will be glad to clarify any remaining doubts.

30. Why does a dust mite allergic (as myself) get better with Airfree?
Basically, dust mite allergens, of which DERP1 is most famous one (skeletons, excrements), are lighter than dust mites.

If they are lighter, they become airborne dust. Once they are airborne, they are destroyed by the Airfree heat as Cambrige test illustrate.

Another theory is that some dust mite species like D. farinae need yeast to help their digestion (1). As you may know Airfree reduces yeast and mold (source: ÁCAROS CONTAMINANTES DE AMBIENTES E CAUSADORES DE DOENÇAS ALÉRGICAS NO HOMEM, CROCE, J. - Professor de Pós Graduação em Alergia na Faculdade de Medicina da USP..BAGGIO, D. - Foi professor do Departamento de Parasitologia do Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas.)

D pteronyssinus dust mites eat no fat, only human skin. If fat is found on the skin they need Aspergillus mold to help digestion (1). ( source: ÁCAROS CONTAMINANTES DE AMBIENTES E CAUSADORES DE DOENÇAS ALÉRGICAS NO HOMEM, CROCE, J. - Professor de Pós Graduação em Alergia na Faculdade de Medicina da USP.. BAGGIO, D. - Foi professor do Departamento de Parasitologia do Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas.)

With Airfree, there is less mold available in the environment, therefore dust mites might starve. This is only a theory, very difficult to prove since tests would not separate living dust mite from the dead ones.

31. What is the amount of air that is moved per minute by the Airfree P3000? Will it exchange the air in a 344.4 sq. ft. room once a day? Once an hour?
Please note that it takes around 5 hours for Airfree to silently circulate the air in a room of 344,4 sq. ft. at a ceiling height of 8 feet. Therefore, there will be around 4 to 5 air exchanges per 24 hours.

However, what is of real importance to us at Airfree is how much less mold spores and bacteria will be in the room itself, which will allow our customers to feel better.

We therefore performed more than 20 tests with independent laboratories in real working conditions, which prove an average microorganism reduction of 85 to 97% in the room itself.
