I replaced the Bissell replacement belt and it keeps burning up. What could be causing the problem?

I have the same problem and I came to the conclusion that the metal axle from the pump is heating up and melting the belts. The second metal axle for the pump belt has a red stopper on it, but the other axle does not. It seems to be a design flaw.

Regardless of what the OP said, There IS other causes! I'm having the same issue, but have cleaned the brush by removing the housing covering it and taking the brush out to thoroughly clean it. Put it back together and the same thing happened. It burnt a new belt in 2. After taking it back apart, I can now see the arm of the motor isn't turning at all! My guess is, unless it's a simple cheap fix, mine either needs a new motor or completely replace the vacuum cleaner.

It could be one of a 3 things. 1. Excess dirt, hair, or thread gets between the roller brush and the housing that covers the belt. 2. You have picked up an over sized object that has jammed under the roller brush. or 3. You have ran over the power cord and it has gotten wrapped around the roller brush.

Remember, the belt drives the roller brush and it doesn't take much to burn one up if the roller stops spinning.
