It is black. Also note that it is thin walled for the full length of the tube, whereas the original extension tube had a heavier/reinforced end on it.
I have a model U5269-900 Hoover Empower upright and the original flared end of the extension tube was a 1 7/16" OD. This tube is only 1 5/16" OD, As a result, I had to wrap it with several layers of masking tape so it would fit into the hose receptacle.
