is the belt roller plastic? the one I am replacing is metal. do you recommend generic without beater bars?

On the newer version of this brush roll, the pulley end is metal but the other end is high grade plastic. The brushes are not available separately so you will have to replace the whole beater bar.

I did not explain well...the round part/wheel on the end, that secures it to the motor, is metal. Are those still metal OR plastic? or plastic only?
What about the beater bar plus brush vs brush only on the roller itself? Which of those do you recommend?

This is a wooden brush roll. Metal brushrolls are no longer manufactured.
