The Generic filter was 1/2" smaller than the original it was replacing (I believe the dimensions were 5-1/2" & 6 was the original). Other than that, the company was good and took care of the credit right away.

Such a shame.

I've had my DC14-Animal for almost 10 years, and although I washed the upper filter, I never thought to check this "lifetime" one. With 2 Labradors in the house, the shedding is heavy and I vacuum several times a week. Replacing this particular filter has my old vac working like it did when it was brand new.

I was actually checking into a new vac as I have had this one for many years. When I read the reviews about the lifetime filter that you don't change but people have, I ordered the parts. I had a hard time getting it in but it worked and like so many others, I feel like I have a new vac.

I have had my dyson for many years and noticed that it wasn't doing the job of picking up that good. I saw the reviews on the web and learned what I needed to do. It was hard to get this part in correctly but I finally did it. I love it. Its like having a new vac.

im glad i notice this filter that dyson never mention any place about every 6 months changing it my wifes allgeries are so bad i must vac the entire house three times a week and now that my dyson has a new hepa filter it really picks up the dust thank you.

Despite Dyson's claim of its "Lifetime" filters, I decided to replace the motor filter in my five years old DC14 anyways. Removal and Installation was pretty straight forward. DIY videos can be found on YouTube. Right away I noticed the vacuum's suction was bit stronger. I'm contemplating replacing the (top) washable foam filter also.

The old motor paper filter that was removed had a lot of black soot or dust in it. I wouldn't wash and reuse it even if it was the washable foam type.

After attaching the seal, the HEPA filter fit into the Dyson very well
