Text Instructions on How to change the belt on your kirby vacuum
Step 1:
Start by unplugging your Kirby vacuum from power plug.
Step 2:
Adjust the height of the vacuum by turning the lever all the way down.
Step 3:
Rotate the belt lifter to the right or counter-clockwise so that the red arrows will match up.
Step 4:
Unlock the nozzle by rotating the accessory lock to the left or counter clockwise.
Step 5:
Once the nozzle is apart, rotate the belt lifter back to the right so that the green arrows match up. The belt will hang loose on the brushroll now
Step 6:
Unlock the latches at the rear of the nozzle to remove the rug plate
Step 7:
Now lift the belt up by wiggling it a little bit. The roller will move up and then come out. If the roller is stuck, then use a butter knife or a small flat head screw driver to pry it upwards.
Step 8:
Now we are ready to change the belt. It is always better to clean the roller by removing any hair on bristles or threads. Take the new belt, slide on the brushroll and insert the roller back into the nozzle. You will have to match the end caps to the nozzle on each side. They are of unequal size so will go only where it belongs. The magnet end will always be on the end which has the indicator light. Another thing to make sure is that the roller has to be aligned to the same numbers on both side for equal wear and tear on both sides. Kinda like wheel alignment on your car actually.
Step 9:
Once the roller is back, put the rug bottom plate back and lock the latches. Rotate the belt lifter counter clockwise which will lift the belt up and then red arrows will align up.
Step 10:
Put the nozzle back to the machine and lock the accessory lock by rotating it clockwise. Rotate the belt tension lever clockwise so that the green arrows line up. The belt will now move on to the motor shaft
