How due I know if I need a new battery charger? I have not used the vacuum in awhile because it did not seem the battery stayed charged very long

If the battery charging light is on, the adapter should be fine.
Please fully charge the battery and then use the vacuum to run a complete battery drain. Do this cycle couple of times. Let the battery completely drain. If the battery lasts like it used to, then it should be okay. If the battery is not lasting like it used to, time to replace the battery.
