Kirby Signature Series C550 Power Canister Vacuum with Multi-Surface Power Nozzle, Pure Platinum

The Kirby C550 Power is the top model in Kirby's new Signature Series. It's a bagged canister vacuum with a motorized Multi-Surface Power Nozzle, and Kirby recommends it for larger homes with carpet and hard floors on more than one level. It also ships with more tools than the other two Signature Series models.

The 13.5-inch power nozzle has its own 250-watt brush motor, six height settings and LumiGuide LED lights across the front. When you move from carpet onto wood or tile, switch the brush roll off at the handle and drop the nozzle to setting 1, or swap to the hard floor nozzle that comes in the box. For pet hair on furniture and carpeted stairs there's a Turbo Air Brush, which neither the C530 nor the V530 includes.

Suction comes from a 1200-watt motor with a 131 CFM airflow rating. Turn the 4-speed AirFlow dial on the canister down for curtains, delicate rugs and electronics, and up for deep carpet cleaning. Kirby calls the C550's cleaning efficiency category-leading, based on ASTM F608 carpet testing with the nozzle at its lowest height and the dial on 4.

Filtration is Kirby's PureAir dual-HEPA system, with a HEPA filter bag, a washable pre-motor filter and a HEPA system filter. Kirby says the full system is independently certified to the ASTM F3150 HEPA standard. The bag holds 1.1 gallons (4.1 L), and lights on the control panel tell you when the bag is full or the system filter is due for a change.

The 24-foot cord rewinds at the push of a button and gives you a 37-foot cleaning radius. The duster brush and upholstery tool store inside the canister, and the crevice tool clips onto the wand. Kirby rates the C550 at 60 dBA, and the main unit weighs 14.5 pounds.

Bags and filters

This vacuum uses Kirby Signature Series Canister PureAir supplies, the same ones as the other Signature Series canister. The V530 upright takes different bags and filters.

Kirby includes a new pre-motor filter with replacement bags, and recommends changing the system filter once a year or when the filter light comes on.

14-day return policy

You can return this vacuum within 14 days of delivery. Vacuum cleaners fall under the equipment terms of our Refund Policy, so the longer return window for bags, belts and filters doesn't apply to it.

• Return shipping is your responsibility. A restocking fee applies to vacuum returns, and shipping charges may be deducted, as set out in our Refund Policy.

Warranty: handled by Kirby

All warranty claims for this vacuum are handled directly by the manufacturer, The Kirby Company. EZvacuum does not handle warranty repairs or replacements, so please contact Kirby for anything covered by the warranty.

Kirby describes its Signature Series limited warranty this way:

• Unit motor: for 8 years from the date of purchase, a Kirby Authorized Service Center will repair or replace a defective motor at no cost, labor included.
• Other parts: for 5 years from the date of purchase, the same applies to defective parts, excluding expendable components. Kirby lists HEPA filters, disposable bags, attachments and brush rolls as expendable.
